Join Turner for three days of plein air painting right here in the Bitterroot Valley of Montana. In this three day workshop, Turner will guide you through his approach to painting on-location. Throughout the workshop, Turner will explain how and why he chooses a specific subject, how to compose it, how to simplify it, and how to turn it into a painting. There will be multiple demonstrations, small compact lectures, as well as individual attention and instruction as students tackle their own plein air paintings. Plan and be prepared to paint in all weather conditions, however, a studio space will also be available in case of inclement weather.

All skill levels are welcome, however, some painting experience is recommended. For complete beginners, or a refresher on the basics, consider Turner’s online course (discount for workshop students) covering the fundamentals of
landscape painting.

* For returning students - some information will inevitably be repeated, but we will pick up where we left off to keep the information fresh and challenging.

The workshop will be based out of Hamilton, Montana. If flying, Missoula, Montana is the best airport option. For housing, there a several hotels as well as a large number short term rentals, like Airbnb.
